Digital holography generally offers more flexibility than conventional holographic interferometry and speckle interferometry because of its simple setup and easy accessibility for 3D surfaces.

The world has gone digital. Whether in cameras, computers, or cell phones, the digital recording of information is replacing conventional media such as film and paper. The field of holography—in which coherent light conveys amplitude and phase information that can be recorded and reconstructed—has joined the digital revolution as well.
