Z-Scan
In the z-scan setup presented in this picture, a nanosecond Nd:Yag laser is operated at 532-nm wavelength, causing the beautiful, clean green light visible on the image. Laser pulses, after passing through lenses, samples (liquid placed in very thin cuvette), and more lenses, finally reach a detector at the end of the experimental line. The z-scan is a very simple but extremely powerful technique for exploring nonlinear properties and processes going on in 2-D nanometarials.
