Sparking a Quantum Dialogue

Ana María Cetto discusses the economic and educational importance of demystifying quantum science.

Ana María Cetto is a senior researcher at the Institute of Physics and professor in the faculty of sciences at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where her work focuses on the fundamentals of quantum mechanics. She was also previously the deputy director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Cetto was part of the group that advocated for the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ) at the United Nations General Assembly, and she’s been extensively involved in planning for the year. OPN spoke with Cetto to get her thoughts on how communicating about quantum could benefit a variety of communities.
