It is generally accepted that for our planet’s future health, we must decrease production of electrical power from burning fossil fuels and turn to clean, renewable energy sources. For southern Arizona, where the sun shines more than 85 percent of the time, solar energy is the clean energy source that makes the most sense. U.S. solar radiation maps show that the largest amount of radiation hits the southwest, including most of the state of Arizona. Indeed, with abundant sunshine and all the land available for development, all of the electrical power needed for the entire country might conceivably come from Arizona alone.
