In their June 2017 Optics & Photonics News article "Infrared Yellowstone," Joseph A. Shaw and colleagues provide intriguing infrared views of the legendary thermal features in Yellowstone National Park, USA. Below are a number of video renderings of the features imaged in the print article.
Old Faithful
The park's most celebrated feature, captured in the infrared during an eruption, from a distance of approximately 280 m.
Firehole River
In this pair of views—the top one taken from the opposite bank, 32 m away, and the bottom one from a bridge 8 m distant—outflow water from Excelsior Geyser empties into the cold water of the Firehole River.
