OSA’s Laser Congress in Nagoya, Japan, from 1 to 5 October 2017, featured presentations ranging from duel-comb research to laser shock peening industrial applications. Attendees experienced a taste of Japanese culture when Congress chairs assisted the mayor of Nagoya in a traditional Kagami-biraki or sake “tapping” ceremony during the Congress banquet. Kanpai!
