Optics & Photonics News spoke with Lluis Torner about his photonics outreach efforts and involvement with IYL.
OSA Fellow Lluis Torner is involved with several partner organizations supporting the 2015 International Year of Light (IYL). He conceived, founded and leads the international Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), a leading optics and photonics research center based in Barcelona, Spain. He also founded the European Centres for Outreach in Photonics (ECOP) alliance, is a member of the Board of Stakeholders for the European Technology Platform Photonics21, and has served from day one on the steering committee that promoted the declaration of 2015 as the International Year of Light.
