Being able to quickly identify cancerous cells can lead to earlier diagnosis. Scientists at the Imperial College, London, U.K., have developed a mid-infrared imaging method to augment the traditional protocol of staining and subjectively examining excised tissue samples (Opt. Express 20, 7290).
