Lessons from an Editorial Term
OSA Fellow Pablo Artal recently finished his second and final term as a topical editor of the Journal of the Optical Society of America A. Here, he shares his advice to authors and reviewers based on his six years of experience.
I am tremendously proud to have served as a JOSA A editor. I can still clearly remember when, as a Ph.D. student, I was amazed to discover the complete collection of JOSA volumes in the Madrid Institute of Optics library. During my first years of graduate school, I read many JOSA papers. It was a real milestone for me—and at the time a remarkable success—when the first paper of my thesis was published in JOSA A.
