Active Learning in Optics and Photonics
Improving optics education is not just about getting students to learn better; it is also about encouraging teachers to teach better. That is what UNESCO’s Active Learning in Optics and Photonics (ALOP) project is all about.
Active learning is a strategy in which students are guided to construct their knowledge of physics concepts by directly observing the physical world. In the intensive week-long ALOP workshops, physics teachers experience active learning by participating in carefully crafted learning sequences that integrate conceptual questions and mentally engaging hands-on activities.
