Telecommunications is changing the way we study, work, do business and spend our free time. By exploiting optical fiber as a transmission medium, communications systems work faster and more efficiently than ever before, providing a capacity as large as several hundreds of Gb/s by multiplexing many high-speed channels on the same fiber.
